Victorian Local Government Councillors and Wards, March 2020
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has recently released the final Representation Review reports for the Shires of Hepburn, Mansfield and Northern Grampians, these councils along with 24 others have undergone reviews since the 2016 Victorian Local Government Elections with a further four Councils, Cardinia Shire, Casey City, Mitchell Shire and Whittlesea City also being reviewed with final finding reports scheduled for April 2020.
Each Council by law is subject to a representation review every 12 years, the Reviews consider if a council has the right number of councillors, if the council should be one large area (unsubdivided) or made up of wards (subdivided), if subdivided, how many wards, the ward boundaries and how many councillors to be elected in each ward.
Surf Coast Shire, Wyndham City, Stonnington City, Yarra Ranges Shire, Hume City, Monash City and Moorabool Shire are also currently subject to VEC subdivision reviews. Subdivision reviews consider the internal boundaries (wards) of a council when there has been significant population changes in the number of voters per councillor in one or more wards. The subdivision reviews are scheduled for completion in April 2020.
